About me…

About me

I live in France and am a work at home mother with a passion for handicrafts.

I discovered Maedup a few years ago when I was given a book, which led to my  searching the net to soon realize that there are not a lot of resources available. I continue to search regularly and post everything I find here.

Maedup is a fine art which deserves to be better known and more widely spread.

This is how The Maedup Shop came to be and has led me on to developing and creating Maedup & Co. : an online store with nothing other than Maedup products and supplies.

Thank you for visiting!

    Ms McKay,
You have a wonderful website! I am just starting to learn the art of Korean knot tying. I have obtained a copy of Kim SangLan’s book ” Decorative Knot Craft”. I will also be using you website for information to help me along the way.

I was wondering if you might know where I can get a latch hook like Kim Sang Lan describes on page 8 of her book. I am unable to find a way to contact Kim Sang Lan to ask her so I thought I would give you a try.

Any help you can give me would be greatly appreciated.

    Thank you for your time.

    Kind Regards,

    • Hi! Thanks so much for your interest – my blog is unfortunately very neglected as I have developped a passion for making handcrafted jewellery! I now have an online store http://www.maedupandco.com and and soon a boutique here in my home – too busy to keep up with the blog and unfortunately, the lack of ressources available on the subject of Maedeup have limited the input ! Anyway – I personally love Kim Sang Lan’s book and it is after being given that book as a gift that I developped all the rest! Thank you Kim for so much Inspiration!
I just googled to find those hooks and found two on my side of the Globe on Ebay – here is the link – http://shop.ebay.fr/i.html?_nkw=crochet+%C3%A0+remailler they are far from being expensive so you don’t have to worry about taking any risks! I personally use a simple crochet hook because I had some on hand, but I admit that one of these could be useful! They do seem hard to come by.
Another great book once you have mastered the basics is ‘Knot Another’ by Elsabe J. Van Rensburg – very little jewellery – mostly traditional maedeup projects, but all the complex knots that you dream of making are explained step by step!

      Have fun!!!
